Welcome to the December 2007 edition of The Pub, the official newsletter for ValueClick Media publishers. In this issue we'll discuss enhancements to the UI, recap our Publisher Survey and talk with a couple of publishers in the network, Rick White of Big R Radio and Arthur Meyerovich of Free Family Health.

HOT ISSUES
New Auto-Select Filters
Based on publisher feedback, additional auto-select filters were recently rolled out in the "auto-select" page. You now have the ability to specify which type of audio and expandable ads you'd like to run on your site, user-initiated or auto audio and expandable ads.
To locate these new filters in the publisher UI, go to "Campaigns" on the menu bar, select one of the ad formats you're currently using and the name of the website you'd like to manage. Then click on the Auto-Select button in the dark blue menu bar above the campaign list.
Once you've reached the auto-select page, you will see a variety of available filters, including the new filters: 'Auto Play Audio,' 'User Initiated Audio,' 'Auto Expandable Creative,' and 'User Expandable Creative.'
To enable one or more of these filters, simply check the box to the left of each option. Please be sure to specify which ad format you'd like to make these changes for by clicking "Update This Ad Type Only" or at the site level by clicking "Update All Ad Types".
Finally, it is important to note that there are different auto-select options for each website (if you have more than one). The changes you make are only for that particular site, not your entire account.
Ad Server Specification
There is a new field in the ''Account Options' section where you can specify which ad server, if any, you are using. This new field will help to ensure that all of our ads serve properly on you site.

IN THE NEWS
ad:tech New York Recap - Publisher Perspective

As many of you know ad:tech New York took place in early November. ValueClick Media was there, front and center as always! The sheer volume of booths and people at the conference hall this year was absolutely astounding. The energy surrounding the event was great and we were happy to meet many of our favorite publishers face to face.
Something that we were pleased to see was the industries acknowledgement of the value of the publisher side of the ad network equation this year. Previous ad:tech's were primarily filled with tools, solutions and management ideas to help mainly advertisers. This year, there was a focus on helping publishers maximize their revenue.
Beyond the face to face meetings with publishers at trade shows, the Publisher Team here at ValueClick Media is paying close attention to your needs and are also actively gathering feedback through e-mails, phone calls and surveys. A combination of this information is being used to help shape our upcoming Publisher UI and optimization enhancements for 2008, so be on the lookout for great things to come in the near future!

PUBLISHER SURVEY
We've recently wrapped up our 3nd annual Ad Network Publisher Survey. We saw a lot of great responses and are excited to announce Chris Roth of Visioguy.com as the winner of the 47" LCD TV. Congrats Chris!
The results of the publisher survey allow you, the publisher, to determine what feature set we build and release next. If you didn't get a chance to participate in the survey, please feel free to e-mail support@valueclick.com with your suggestions.
Pubs stated that they most enjoy the Publisher Spotlight section in this newsletter, so starting now we will begin featuring at least two pubs instead of one! Check them out below.
Publishers also stated that targeted defaults would be the most beneficial enhancement while 125x125 square buttons are the most requested new ad type. We've already begun researching these two items further and will keep you posted on their development.
Other facts:
90% of Publishers stated they would recommend ValueClick Media to a fellow publisher.
* We love hearing that such a high percentage of our publishers would recommend us, thanks! Remember to use the referral link when recommending us so you can receive a bonus equal to 5 percent of their net earnings - for the first 12 months the referral is active. You can find the referral links by selecting your site within the publisher interface and clicking on "Referral Links" in the lower right corner of the page.
66% of Publishers stated they are not currently using direct deposit. Direct deposit allows you to enjoy shorter payment cycles as money reaches your account the day it is transferred. Increased security, efficiency and control, as transactions take place via Automated Clearing House (ACH).
* To set up direct deposit:
1. Log into your account
2. Go to the payment profile page
3. Under payment method, select: payment by direct deposit
4. Provide your banking information
5. Submit
* Note at this time direct deposit is only available to publishers in the U.S. and Canada.

How long have you been with ValueClick Media?
Two and a half years.
Where did you work previously?
I previously worked at a medium-sized advertising agency in Westlake Village, CA where I juggled accounts and creative projects as an Account Manager.
What is one interesting thing about you that most people don't already know?
I'm both a geek and a jock. I love technology and sports and can spend hours playing with a new gadget, watching soccer, or riding my bike.
When working with publishers, how do you help them monetize their available inventory?
I feel it's important to be as responsive and available as possible. I consistently offer advice on things such as` account optimization, default implementation, as well as tailor my services to the individual publisher based on their needs.
What do you think helps lead to success for a publisher when working with a network?
Having an open mind when it comes to running a broad variety of ad formats helps a lot, along with the capability to separate out U.S. traffic. Another rule-of-thumb is to monitor your performance closely by logging into your account regularly to find out what works for you.

PUBLISHER SPOTLIGHT
Based on your feedback in our publisher survey we are including two publishers in this issue, Big R Radio and Free Family Health.
Here is what Rick White, CEO of Big R Radio told us.

Tell us about your site.
Big R Radio was established in 2003 and has become one of the most popular independently owned internet radio stations in the world. Streaming 52 radio stations to the world, streaming Windows Media Audio and Shoutcast streams there is a station available for most everyone.
How has ValueClick Media affected your business and/or business goals?
Placing our ValueClick Media banners ads properly and adjusting them until we figured out what works the best for us was and is time well worth spent. ValueClick Media has been the steadiest source of revenue since Big R Radio's inception.
Let's face it; banner advertising is the consistent revenue maker for any established site. It's dependable and they pay well. With other forms of advertising coming into the internet radio world as of last year, audio ads and banner ads are very complimentary with each other. And new technology allows us to synchronize the two at the same time.
What account feature do you find the most valuable when viewing your ValueClick Media account?
I love the daily breakdowns of each ad size in the history tab. I can easily look and see which ads are working and what is not.
What advice can you give other ValueClick Media publishers looking to maximize their ad revenue?
I would suggest to other pubs that they review the placements of their banners to make sure they perform well. We found that the 160x600 ad size performs much better on the left side of our pages compared to the right.

What account feature do you find the most valuable when viewing your ValueClick Media account?
We appreciate the full suite of functionality in the reporting dashboard and use it consistently to optimize campaigns.
What advice can you give other ValueClick Media publishers looking to maximize their ad revenue?
As publishers, our primary focus should always be on quality content and quality users. Being successful in these two areas empowers our advertising partners to garner better response, thus keeping our whole industry prosperously growing in the right direction.
