PRODUCT UPDATES

Video: Companion Banners Coming Soon!
Our in-stream video beta is growing!

Currently, it includes pre-roll and post-roll features. It will soon include companion banners, which are standard ad units (i.e. medium rectangle 300x250 or leaderboard 728x90) synchronized with adjacent pre-roll or post-roll campaigns. And of course, the offering will be compatible with all major rich media vendors and will be fully integrated with our existing targeting, optimization and reporting capabilities.

Rich Media: InVues to Get an Upgrade!
In the coming weeks you'll hear more about enhancements to our rich media offering that will increase the performance of your campaigns.

Our InVue ad format will soon be flexible, allowing you to run any ad size in this highly effective floating creative unit. It's a great opportunity to increase click-through rates while keeping costs down.

Updated Content Channels Now Available - Including 3 New Channels
We recently updated our content channels and added three new channels for increased targeting within the network. The new channels are:

Ad Exchanges: Hype or True Value?

If an advertiser needs an efficient sales experience on a small number of sites, then exchanges can offer an effective solution.

I appreciated Tom Hespos' article "Ad Exchanges... Is Now the Time?" because it's certainly a topic that is overdue for more public debate and education. Every ad placement model has its place in the online advertising ecosystem and Hespos raises some good points about the potential efficiencies and opportunistic buying afforded by exchanges.

So, is now the time for ad exchanges?

Yes. However, determining if an ad exchange is right for your needs requires a deeper understanding of how they work and the trade-offs between exchanges and traditional ad networks.

ValueClick Media Goes Golfing

On May 18, we sponsored the thinkLA Interactive Golf Romp held at the Lakes of El Segundo golf course. Eighteen teams from various agencies, brands and vendors spent a day on the links, having fun with colleagues away from the office.

Our sponsored hole featured a Tiki hut where teams could get a beverage and relax for a few minutes. We also had a team that competed in the golf tournament, but the winners came from SI.com and PointRoll. Congratulations to Garlin Smith, Michael Stillman, Chris Magpayo and Lauren Smith on a job well done!

Ad:tech San Francisco Recap

Last month we were proud to sponsor the 10th Annual ad:tech Awards.

The event, hosted by Susan Bratton and Geoff Ramsey, boasted over 30 awards and was attended by over a thousand people. The highlight of the evening was two incredible performances by Cirque du Soleil.

Congratulations to the nominees and winners of the 2007 ad:tech Awards!

ValueClick Media officially debuted The Performance Interviews series, with video spots appearing on two large screens throughout the evening's program. You can see the spots that played on stage, as well as ten interview videos on our microsite.

USER TIPS

New Seasonal Custom Channels Available
Our planning team has created two new custom channels for extensive reach during some upcoming seasonal events.

Dads & Grads
This is a group of sites selected from our network based on their content relevancy towards Father's Day and Graduations. Sites include those focusing on greeting cards, shopping, family and living and consumer electronics. Check it out.

Back to School
A combination of education sites geared to reach teachers, parents and students ages 12-17 make up this custom channel. A few sample sites include Merriam-Webster Online, ALFY, Pogo.com and History for Kids. High-impact roadblocks and other custom sponsorships are also available on single sites such as Merriam-Webster, Word Central and Encyclopedia Britannica. Check it out.

How long have you been with ValueClick Media?
Since March 2004.

Where did you work prior to working here?
Ampira Media.

What do you like best about your job?
It's exciting to be part of the overall growth of a business, that's for sure. However, if I had to sum it up in one word, I would say people...it's all about the people, working together to achieve something great.

When bringing on a new advertiser, what aspects of their campaign do you evaluate and why?
We have to evaluate everything...it's important I understand the client's business model, their capacity, their internal structure, their overall online advertising objectives and their expectations. Once I have all of this information, we can then discuss strategy. The partnership grows from there.

What do you think leads to a successful ValueClick Media campaign?
You've heard it before and I'll say it again. Communication is key. My most successful partnerships are based upon open ended communication before, during and after the campaign. Often I'll schedule a weekly call for the length of the campaign just to ensure we are all on the same page, seeing the same results and making the necessary adjustments to ensure success.
